Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Story Lantern ("we", "us") collects when you visit this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Consent

By using our website, you consent to this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.

Information we collect

  • Information you send us. When you post a comment or use the Report button, we store what you write (and any screenshot you attach), the name you give, and the time it was sent.
  • Technical information. To protect the site from spam and abuse, we record a shortened form of your IP address and your browser's user agent alongside comments and reports. We delete these details after 90 days.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard request data (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site securely and quickly.

We do not ask you to create an account to read stories, and we do not sell your personal information.

How we use information

  • To publish and moderate comments.
  • To review reports and fix problems with our content.
  • To keep the website secure, prevent spam and understand how the site performs.

Cookies and advertising

We may show advertisements provided by third parties, including Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

For more information about how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect how some parts of the site work.

Third-party links

Stories and pages may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.

Children's privacy

Story Lantern is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Log files

Like most websites, Story Lantern uses log files. They record visits to the website as part of normal hosting operations and may include IP address, browser type, internet service provider, date and time, referring and exit pages, and the number of clicks. This information is not linked to anything that personally identifies you. We use it to analyse trends, administer the site and protect it from abuse.

Advertising partners' privacy policies

Third-party ad servers or ad networks use technologies such as cookies, JavaScript or web beacons in the advertisements and links that appear on Story Lantern. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens. Story Lantern has no access to or control over these cookies. Please consult the privacy policies of these third-party ad servers for their practices and for instructions on how to opt out.
